Francesca Romano

Land Tenure Officer, FAO

She has been involved in the negotiation and implementation process of the VGGT, supporting the capacity development stream of work, as well as country based initiative in the field of responsible investments and multistakeholder processes for improved land governance and policy frameworks.
More recently she has been leading the thematic area on tenure, climate change and environmental sustainability, and promoting human rights based approaches to land governance.
She gained field experience in Africa, Asia and Central European countries. She also worked as independent consultant for IUCN, and as lectures for University la Sapienza, Rome, on field related to conservation and protected area management.
She holds a University degree in Biology and MSc in Protected landscape management.
